Happy Birthday, Dad!

John and Katy, our dear friends from California, spent the weekend with us.

Eight years ago, through a random set of circumstances, KTB and I became colleagues, then friends. Since then, our lives have run parallel in many ways - in spite of the distance between us. We have been kindred spirits since the beginning. She has always been precious to me - even more so after this weekend.

Last weekend was Paul's 32nd birthday. The kids and I kidnapped him for a day, and together, we celebrated early in Estes Park. It was a PERFECT day.

Maya and Cole each enjoyed their first ice cream cones...

... EVER!!

And later that night, after naps, dinner and a family dance party, we ALL enjoyed Maya's birthday cake masterpiece for her daddy.


Saturday was the big day, and I got the birthday boy all to myself! Paul and I spent the afternoon at Fossil Trace, an AMAZING golf course in Golden. That evening, we enjoyed a romantic dinner for two. Here are some snapshots from another beautiful (and REALLY fun) afternoon...
